History of Service

BALDINO'S LOCK & KEY SERVICE, INC. was founded by Albert M. Baldino in 1961. What started as a hobby of interest, has expanded to employ over 80 highly trained employees, technicians and experts to service eleven lockshops, a locksmith wholesale supply distributorship and an Electronic Division.

In 1961, Mr. Baldino completed a correspondence course to sharpen his locksmith skills, with the objective of establishing his lifelong dream of owning and operating a business of his own. While continuing to work as an airline mechanic for United Airlines during the 4:00 p.m. to midnight shift, BALDINO'S LOCK & KEY SERVICE, INC. began to blossom during the day. For two years from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., it truly was a family business, as Mr. Baldino, his wife, Doris, and sons Mark and Gary worked in a little shed under the backyard treehouse to establish the new lockshop.

As the business grew, Mr. Baldino left his position as airline mechanic to devote his full attention to the now burgeoning BALDINO'S LOCK & KEY, INC.

Although the first commercial space for BALDINO'S was no wider than two double doors and 16 feet deep, business continued to grow rapidly.

A larger location was established in Springfield, Virginia, with another shop to follow in the newly opened Tyson's Corner Shopping Center. BALDINO'S was able to claim the distinction of being the first lockshop in the nation to locate in a shopping mall setting!

After graduating from college, both sons returned to the business as partners and full time employees.

Albert Baldino passed away in March, 1991, leaving his legacy of a successful locksmith company to his sons, Mark and Gary.

Today, with over eighteen locations, locksmith wholesale supply distributorship and an Electronic Division to proudly carry on the BALDINO name, Mr. Baldino's dedication to quality service and concern for all customers continues to be demonstrated daily by all company employees.

Company service vehicles still display his expression, "Drive safely, we have no keys to heaven."

After forty years in business, BALDINO'S LOCK & KEY SERVICE, INC., with experts in the areas of locksmithing, physical security alarms, CCTV, safework and access control, still operate with the same enthusiasm and dedication to quality service that came from the "locksmith shop under the treehouse" in 1961!
